Adopt Dorothy Bear

I have always loved the movie "The Wizard of Oz" because of the valuable lessons it teaches.

And my favorite character? Dorothy, of course. Throughout the movie we see a spiritual "awakening" in Dorothy. From the moment she lands in Munchkinland and travels down the yellow brick road to meet the Wizard, she begins a journey of "self discovery" and "inner strength" to deal with and confront her problems.

Below are two of the lessons that Dorothy learned while in the Land of Oz:

"You've Always Had the Power ...": This was probably quite a revelation when Glinda told Dorothy she always had the power to go home. But, as Glinda stated, "She had to learn it for herself". When asked by the Tin Man what she learned, Dorothy said, "Well, I ... I think that it ... that it wasn't enough just to want to see Uncle Henry and Auntie Em ... and it's that if I ever go looking for my heart's desire again, I won't look any further than my own backyard; because if it isn't there, I never really lost it to begin with! Is that right?", to which Glinda replied, "That's all it is."

"There's No Place Like Home": This is probably the most important theme in M-G-M's 1939 classic film. After Dorothy journeys down the yellow brick road and discovers the Wizard is nothing but a humbug and that she always had the power to go back to Kansas, she realizes that There's No Place Like Home!
